Hamask professional theatre company performs modern puppet and mask theatre. In our work we strive to combine different theatre disciplines while remaining true to core puppet and mask techniques. The result is physical, improvised, funny still serious, daring and vital plays. A combination that has proven perfect for audiences of mixed ages.
All our productions are made for touring and “compact” is the motto we live by. For added flexibility we offer both an open air and a stage version for most of our plays. Hamask was formed in 1998 as part of the production company Kompani Bastard. As of 2005 we have written and played five full length plays as well as three street theatre concepts for masked actors. Several of these are still running. |

Oskar Hejll and John Rydqvist share the artistic leadership in Hamask. Oskar Heijl is a puppeteer, maskplayer and puppet and mask maker. He has a University Diploma in Performing Arts and Media from the Swedish State University college of Dramatiska institutet where he studied puppet theatre John Rydqvist is an actor, playwright and costume designer. John is a graduate in history and has a Masters degree in War Studies from the Department of War Studies, Kings College, London |
